Asus’s upcoming high-performance laptop was on display at the 2010 CES in Las Vegas: The laptop deliver 12 hours of battery life.

Although the high-end laptops usually eat through their battery life, the UL80JT , Asus claims, manages to stretch it out by switching automatically between two GPUs, a high-performance NVIDIA GeForce 310 and a slower Intel GMA. The laptop itself will monitor the user's activities and needs and switch between chipsets in real-time without the user having to do a thing.

This differs from, say, the dual-GPU Macbook Pro, which requires the user to log out to change the performance mode.

Additionally, the UL80JT can adjust its Intel Core i7 CPU performance according to how hard the user is pushing the processor, increasing and decreasing speed as required.

Asus plans to launch the UL80JT later this year.
